Programs that Correlate with Kindergarten Standards

Our goal is to teach youth about waste reduction and environmental responsibility. Many of our programs meet or correlate with Indiana’s Academic Standards. This page outlines those programs that best relate to the grade level standards for your class. Review the programs listed below and contact us to schedule your program. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rethink

Learn the basics of recycling! What can we recycle? How can we recycle it? Where can we recycle it? And why should we recycle it?

Litter: Pick it Up, Don’t Pass it Up

What is litter? Where does it come from? What can you do about it? Find out with this interactive litter prevention program. Weather permitting, this will include a litter clean-up around the school grounds.

Jammin’ with Junk

Take a little trash, a little time and some imagination and we can make a band! This great discovery time teaches students how to REUSE trash and make something fun and musical!

Trash to Treasure Craft

Make pumpkins, valentines, Easter baskets, wreaths and more from items otherwise destined for the landfill! If you have a specific request, just let us know!

Treasure Walk

Go on a treasure walk with us!  We will be talking about one of our favorites, “Tiny, Perfect Things” by M.H. Clark. When you look for for the tiny things, you care about them. And when you care about them, you do things to protect them.

Worms Are Still Eating My Garbage

Scheduled only Sept.-Nov. Learn about the red worm and how it turns garbage into compost. If desired, the class is left with a working vermicompost system and a “how to” book.

Compost Stew

Using a rhyming story book, this programs introduces students to the merits of waste reduction through composting. Participants witness compost in action, and work together to create a healthy compost system through an interactive model.

Environmental Lending Library:

Please take advantage of this free program. We will deliver the traveling bin full of environmental books, videos, games and music. The bin will stay at your school for 1 month during which time teachers and students can check out materials to use in the classroom!

Book Bins

Check one of these bins out for your classroom for a period of two weeks or let us come to you.  The book bins connect popular picture books to environmental activities.  Most materials are included in the kit along with instructions.
